I create portraits both on location (i.e. your home, beach, park, local cafe or other location) and in my home studio. We will determine which option best suits your needs at your pre-session consult.

For portrait sessions, I am usually booked 2 -3 weeks out. If you want a specific date or time of year please call in advance to reserve your date.
The full session fee is due at the time of booking to hold your date.

The consult can be done in person or by phone. For home location sessions we may opt to do the consult in your home so we can better plan for your session. This is when we discuss what type of session you are interested in doing, location, and clothing. We will also determine the best session time for your child's temperment or family's schedule.

I've found the best approach with a cllient of any age is not to force the moment. I take a few minutes at the start of the session to just visit and get to know you. This is especially important when I work with children. The session will go much smoother if I have a chance to interact with your child before bringing out my camera (or at least pointing it at him or her). Often times, I will just let the child play or if need be I will put down my camera and join in the play. Once the child is comfortable around me, it's just a matter of waiting for the moments of natural smiles and expressions.

Studio sessions last 1 - 1.5 hours. Location and home session last 1.5 - 3 hours. This gives us plenty of time and there is no pressure to rush through the session It also allows us to take breaks as needed, depending on the age of your child. Once the session is over we will schedule your viewing appointment.
